Peeling a butternut squash

The skin of a butternut squash is pretty hard and it can be hard to peel.

The next time you need one for a recipe try this.

Pierce the skin repeatedly on all sides.

Microwave  on high for 3 1/2 minutes.

Let cool for a few minutes.

It will now be softer considerably easier to peel.

This is actually a fantastic tip. I used to get my squash from the local vegetable market but I was sick of having to peel it so I started buying pre-chopped squash from a supermarket (wrapped in plastic!). Not good. This however will be so much better and will help with the waste that I feel so swful about. Thanks for the mega tip
